HUNTINGTON - In October 2017, Anthony Lee opened Kustom Kreams, Huntington's first Thai rolled ice cream shop. The inspiration for the shop came from a family vacation to Denver, Colorado. Eight months later, the sweet spot has already moved to a bigger location. The new shop is located next to Now Hear This at 1456 4th Ave., Huntington. A grand re-opening was conducted Saturday April 14.

"We started looking at a bigger location in December," Lee said. "We wanted a location that was closer to Marshall University. This space was formerly home of the beer store Bonded by Bottles, and it became available to us in March."

Lee said the space was like a shell, needing new floors, plumbing and a room to prepare ingredients.

"We also needed to install a bar and put in more equipment than our old location. It took about a month to get ready, and we were putting in 12-hour days."

Thai rolled ice cream consists of a cream base that is poured onto a cold plate resembling a griddle. As it freezes, the cream is mixed with fruit, candy or other ingredients as the customer watches. Servings are $4 for a small and $5 for a regular. Among the flavors are chocolate, vanilla and strawberry as well as original creations like "Cookie Monster" (featuring bits of Oreo and Chips Ahoy).

"This is the freshest ice cream you can eat," Lee said. "It starts in liquid form, we flavor it as you request, mix it and roll it up. We have over 22 flavors. You can come in and mix it up. For instance we use pineapples in our Banana Split Ice Cream. So if you just want pineapple flavor we can do that. For the past two months we have been making our own edible cookie dough that we flavor with. We're also been trying out an Ice Cream Taco Tuesday special. We have a quality ice cream that everyone needs to try."

Kustom Kreams is located at 1456 4th Ave. It is open noon to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Cash and all major credit cards are accepted. For carry-out orders call 740-534-8004. For specials you can follow them on Facebook at The are also on Instagram at
