HUNTINGTON - Goodwill Industries of KYOWVA is now enrolling for its upcoming training programs and life enrichment courses. All courses are at the Goodwill Career Center, 1005 Virginia Ave., Huntington.
Here's a look at the upcoming courses:
>> Seniors Email 101: This three-session course will help you to create, use and send emails to family and friends at a pace that works for you. The course times are 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Nov. 14, 16 and 18. Cost is $19. Class participants must be 55 or older.
>> Computer Basics: A six-session coursed aimed to help individuals learn basic computer skills. Participants will learn how to navigate the computer, use email and basic internet/online navigation. The course meets once a week from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Nov. 15. Cost is $89.
>> Custodial Training Program: This four-week training program will provide in-class instruction and hands-on training to perform custodial duties. Students will complete 40 hours of practicum training and may earn a national certification. The course runs from 9:30 a.m. through 2:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, through Thursday, Dec. 1. Cost is $1,200. Financial aid and scholarships are available for qualifying individuals.
>> Medical Office Skills Training: Goodwill Industries of KYOWVA is now enrolling for its spring 2017 term of Medical Office Skills Training scheduled to begin Jan. 17, 2017. This is a 20-week training course aimed to prepare individuals for employment as a Medical Office Administrative Assistant. Class times are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The course offers up to 12 hours of college credit from Mountwest Community and Technical College. Course includes such topics as medical terminology, insurance billing and coding, records management, and Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. During the last 10 weeks of class, students obtain additional guidance through hands-on training provided by local internship sites. Preparation and payment for certification testing in medical administration is included in the course. Cost is $2,500. Financial aid and scholarships are available for qualifying individuals.
