HUNTINGTON - Goodwill Industries of KYOWVA distributed more than 60 backpacks to children in the community during its Back to School Bash on Aug. 3 at the J.W. Scott Community Center, 1637 8th Ave., Huntington.
The Back to School Bash was hosted in collaboration with the United Way River Cities and the Tri-State Literacy Council, according to a news release.
The event was open to all children in the community, from kindergarten to seniors in high school. In all, 62 backpacks were distributed. The backpacks were filled with school supplies like notebooks, folders, crayons, pens, pencils, markers, notebook paper and more. The event also featured fun activities and games for the kids.
The J.W. Scott Community Center distributes free snack-packs to local school children, from kindergarten through seniors in high school, on a weekly basis. The children may pick up one snack-pack between the hours of 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. every Friday at the Scott Center.
