GARDEN CLUB OFFICERS: On Tuesday, June 4, the Timberlake Garden Club installed the following officers for 2019-20: Jane D'Egidio and Donna Hamer, co-presidents; Ann Stamm and Colleen Harker, co-vice presidents; Dianne Lunsford, secretary; and Marcia Adkins, treasurer. The club that boasts a membership of 35 members will celebrate its 40th anniversary in October.

PRESENTATION: Former Barboursville resident, 1981 Barboursville High School graduate and 1985 Marshall University grad, William Bane, recently made a 50-minute presentation to the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Industry conference about surviving a Category 5 hurricane from a business and personal perspective. William, his wife Yvonne, and daughter, Kristen, are still rebuilding after Hurricane Michael. He was recently appointed as chairman of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Florida State University Annual Accounting conference committee, and the continuing professional education liaison to the Panama City Florida Chapter of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

RETIREMENT: Congratulations to two Village of Barboursville employees who recently retired after many years of employment. Charlie Pennington retired with 39-plus years and Doug Triplett with 30-plus years.

LAST CHANCE BAND: Enjoy listening to or dancing to oldies music on Saturday, June 15, and Saturday, June 29, when Rocky Nash and the Last Chance band will be performing at the Barboursville Senior Center, 721 Central Ave., from 6-9 p.m. Food and drinks will be offered from the kitchen.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, 733 Shaw Street, hosts its Vacation Bible School, ROAR, on Monday through Friday, June 17-21, from 9 a.m. until noon. All children, ages 3 years old to those entering sixth grade in the fall, are welcome. All 3-year-olds must be potty trained to attend.

WESTMORELAND MEETING: The Westmoreland Neighborhood Association meets on Monday, June 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Westmoreland Woman's Club building, 2962 Bradley Road, Huntington. Captain Ray Cornwell of the Huntington Police Department will present the crime report for Westmoreland and Joel Jones, attorney with Campbell Woods, will speak about estate planning. KENNEL CLUB SHOW: Plan to attend the Huntington Kennel Club's 104th show on Saturday and Sunday, July 6-7, at the Big Sandy Superstore arena in Huntington. All-breed dog shows, obedience trials, and rally trials will be held.

DANCE: Ballroom dancers, mark your calendar for Dick Newman's next dance at the Barboursville Community Center, 721 Central Ave., on Friday, June 21, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Admission is $15 per person. At intermission, Newman will speak about the differences between the cha-cha-cha and the triple step.

TENT REVIVAL: Elmwood Baptist Church is hosting an old-fashioned tent revival on June 2328 at 7 p.m. with David Frazy as the evangelist. Cyrus Creek Baptist Church and Olive Baptist Church are also participating. Everyone is welcome.

MILTON REUNION: The Milton High School class of 1967 holds its reunion on Saturday, June 22, at 4 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, 1295 Turnpike Road, Milton. Food and drinks will be provided. RSVP Jane Queen Cleghon at 304-544-1083.
