BARBOURSVILLE - Get ready to run for your "life," as Goodwill Industries of KYOWVA Area, Inc., hosts the third annual Running Dead 5K at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Barboursville Park, according to a news release.
Races will dodge the walking dead through designated zombie zones along the course, which begins and ends by Lake William in Barboursville Park. Participants are encouraged to dress in costumes and glow apparel.
The event gets underway with Brickhouse Cardio Club offering a "zombie warm-up," including the "Thriller" dancer, the "Time Warp" from the "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and other Halloween favorites.
The race begins at 6:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Hire Attire, which dresses men for business success and aims to place men into jobs and careers within the local community.
The race will be timed by the TSR Timing Group, and medals will be awarded to the top overall male and female finishers as well as the top two male and female finishers in each age group. There will also be a prize for the best dressed zombie and human.
Registration is $20 through 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, and $25 through the remainder of race day.
