HUNTINGTON - Chevel Shepherd, Season 15 winner of "The Voice" is making an appearance at Dutch Miller Chevrolet on Wednesday, June 19, from 5-7 p.m.
The event features an autograph signing along with a food drive to benefit the Facing Hunger Foodbank.
On hand to assist with the food drive will be Chris Miller, president of the Dutch Miller Automotive Group, and Wes Thompson from the Dutch Miller television commercials.
Sixteen year old Chevel Shepherd first wowed coaches and fans during "The Voice" blind auditions, when her performance earned a four judge chair turn. She kicks off her victory tour in Ashland at the Paramount Arts Center on Friday, June 21.
Facing Hunger Foodbank is a private, non-profit, charitable organization founded in 1983 and is incorporated in West Virginia.
Formerly known as the Huntington Area Food Bank, the food bank initially served Cabell and Wayne Counties. The need was so great across the region that the food bank expanded its service area after its first year of operation.
The foodbank's service area currently includes 248 agencies across 17 counties in West Virginia, eastern Kentucky and southeastern Ohio. In its first full year of operation, the foodbank distributed nearly 300,000 pounds of food.
Since the turn of the century, the foodbank has consistently been distributing more than 3 million pounds of food annually. In 2018, the foodbank distributed more than 7.4 million pounds of food.
