HURRICANE — More than 230 women came together to dance the night away and help raise money for Mission WV, a nonprofit organization that provides support and services to children in foster care, during the GLAM Gala charity event at the Valley Park Conference Center on Friday, May 17.

The GLAM Gala — formerly known as the Mom Prom — is an annual event organized by the MOMS Club of Teays Valley to raise funds for various charitable causes that benefit children. Now

in its fourth year, this women-only event has gained popularity in the community for being an ultimate ladies' night out — a chance to dress your best and get together with girlfriends for a night of fun and philanthropy.

At least 150 businesses have donated items toward the raffle and a silent auction.

Through ticket sales, generous sponsorships and raffle and silent auction sales, it is estimated that this year's event raised well over $10,000, which is a "record amount," according to the MOMS Club President Lindsey Read. The donation will be used to address the needs of youth in foster care and kinship care like providing luggage and personal hygiene items and funding extra needs that are not covered by the foster care system.

The MOMS Club of Teays Valley thanks the GLAM. Gala sponsors — Walton Chiropractic, Crout & O'Dell Orthodontics, Bailey and Bailey Contracting, Putnam County Bank, Dreisbach Wholesale Florists, Specialty Groups Inc., Farmers Bank, Putnam County CVB, Kanawha Scales and Systems, Larry Bevins with Allstate Insurance, West Virginia Paving Inc., and real estate agent Jan Ramey.
