Marshall University (dark jerseys) beat New Hampshire (white jerseys) 24-23 in the debut game at the new Joan C. Edwards Stadium on Sept. 7, 1991. The 1991 team would go on to have an 11-4 record under coach Jim Donnan. Team captains were Derek Grier, Madison Sayre, Ricardo Clark and Matt Downey.
