HUNTINGTON - Need a job? Goodwill's Career Center and Employment Services is hosting a job expo and networking event Wednesday, June 1, to connect, collaborate and explore employment opportunities.

"We have this annual career fair each year with other members of the Tri-State community," said Ashley Shaw, Goodwill's director of Career Services.

The event starts at 10 a.m. and lasts until 1 p.m. at the Goodwill Career Center, located at 1005 Virginia Ave., in Huntington.

"There are usually 25 to 30 different employers that attend the career expo," Shaw said. "They include Marshall University, Mildred Mitchell-Bateman, Dirt Busters and several others."

It is free and open to the public.

"Generally, we have about 150 participants from our Goodwill consumers and then as many as 100 from the public," Shaw said.

Goodwill staff members will be on hand at the event to offer online job application assistance and resume building as well as to discuss services, including one-on-one career counseling, employment preparation courses, work tools and educational and technical skill classes, according to a release.

"Participants will have access to our computer lab and representatives there to assist in applying online," Shaw said. "This event and the various programs and services offered by Goodwill are all aimed at assisting individuals in finding sustainable employment so that they may better their lives."

Shaw said various employers will conduct interviews on site and hire individuals.

"If you need a job or looking to explore a new career, this job expo and networking event is the place to be," Shaw said.
