Lori Wolfe/The Herald-Dispatch Huntington firefighters, police and Cabell County EMS respond to the scene where a body was found Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, in West Huntington.

HUNTINGTON - The death of a man whose body was found Friday morning in West Huntington is not being considered a homicide at this time.

According to city communications director Bryan Chambers, the man died of an apparent medical episode.

The body, described only as that of a white man, was found on the sidewalk in front of the city Housing Authority on 3rd Street West near 7th Avenue West.

Huntington Police Capt. Hank Dial said evidence at the scene initially indicated the death may have been suspicious.

Fire department representatives, EMS and police all responded to the site near Seventh Avenue Baptist Church. West Virginia State Police assisted.

The body will be sent for an autopsy, but it is up to a medical examiner to decide if they will conduct one, Chambers said.
