FRAZIERS BOTTOM — Company and community officials this month celebrated Tasty Blend Foods Inc.'s brand-new Snak-Time manufacturing facility at the company's headquarters in Fraziers Bottom.
Snak-Time is one of Tasty Blend Foods' several brands and specializes in breakfast sandwiches and biscuits.
This expanded operation follows Tasty Blend's acquisition of Snak-Time Foods Corp., moving the Snak-Time line of breakfast sandwiches and biscuits to West Virginia. The $3 million expansion adds 22,000 square feet to the facility's existing 48,000 square feet and adds a new production line. Tasty Blend will add 20 new jobs to its current workforce of 45.
"Our facility currently makes 14,000 breakfast sandwiches an hour," said Roy Elswick, the president and CEO of Tasty Blend Foods Inc. "We wanted to bring everything under one umbrella and move it here to West Virginia."
The new line should be operational by July.
Many county and state officials were present at a ribbon-cutting on June 14, including Mike Hall, chief of staff to Gov. Jim Justice, who said, "This business is one of the great West Virginia stories we can tell."
The company has been in business in West Virginia since 1987 and is one of the leading manufacturers of flour and starched-based products like biscuits, gravies, mashed potatoes, corn bread, dumplings, fudge and recipe mixes - anything from pancakes to pizza crust. The company prides itself on making products that offer "homemade" and "made-from-scratch" quality and taste. Their products are sold in major grocery stores nationwide under brand names like Teays Valley, Peach Valley and Snak-Time. Tasty Blend Foods also partners with businesses to help make custom mixes to order.
