NITRO, W.Va. — Again, this year churches located in the city of Nitro will be conducting the Taste of Nitro, which benefits the various year-round programs provided by the Nitro Mission Team.
The annual event is scheduled for 4 until 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, on the yard of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church on 20th Street.
The Taste of Nitro will feature various food items, from pepperoni rolls to hot dogs with all the fixings to homemade desserts.
Along with the food event, the Nitro Antique Car Club will conduct a car show next to the church on 2nd Avenue. For entertainment, a bluegrass band will be playing under the trees at the church.
"Taste of Nitro has grown in popularity during each of the past several years," Bill Fortune, event chairman, said in a news release.
"People like the top-quality, homemade food prepared by Nitro churches so much that many have learned to get there early to make sure they get it before it runs out."
The Nitro Mission Team is active in the Nitro community, stepping up to help those in need.
The team operates the city's food pantry, provides Christmas baskets, a Christmas toy drive and the Kids Backpack program, which serves 150 children during the school year.
The cost of the event is 25 cents per ticket, as tickets are needed to purchase the food from the various booths set up by the participating churches.
