HURRICANE — Members of the Putnam County Rotary and the Teays Valley Church of God came together on Monday, May 20, and Tuesday, May 21, to plant flowers at the Hurricane Senior Center and at the Valley Park.

Rotary President Cindy Farley remarked, "It made my heart happy to see so many children working alongside the adults and singing, 'This is the way we help our community!'"

The project was a great inter-generational service opportunity.

"The Rotary and our church both have such a community focus that it seemed like a natural fit for us to work together," said the Rev. Thom Pratt, one of the Pastors at Teays Valley Church of God. "Rotary's motto is 'Service above Self.' That is the way we try to live out our faith as Christians."

Director of Putnam County Parks and Rotarian, Jarrod Dean, shared, "Seeing organizations like churches and civic groups join together and partner on projects for our community shows we share a common goal to provide beautiful places for our community to fellowship and come together."

The flower planting project was just one of many partnerships Teays Valley Church of God has engaged in during this their "Year of Community."
