This letter is in response to the article John Patrick Grace wrote about chiggers in The Herald-Dispatch of Aug. 25.

I was born and raised on a farm in Lewis County, West Virginia, 25 miles south of Weston. My family and neighbors experienced chigger bites, too. What we found to be most effective was to dab the itching area with clear fingernail polish. The itching subsided quickly.

I enjoy his articles very much.
