Police officer was arrogant and rude
On May 14 my neighbor called police because of parking issues at my house. After the police officer looked over the situation, he told my neighbor that he could park where he has been parking, even though it is blocking my driveway. My neighbor has an off-street driveway that he never uses. There are No Parking signs on both sides of 27th Street West. My house is in the cul-de-sac. The officer called the cul-de-sac a “circle” and considered it not part of 27th Street West. The officer continued to yell and belittle me and then threatened me that if I call one more time that he would have me arrested for false report.
This neighbor also gave the Korean veteran that lived there before a hard time as well. I found this out when I went to zoning to get my permit for my driveway.
The officer showed no respect toward me at all. I’m 72 years old, 100% disabled and a combat-wounded Vietnam veteran. I do not like to be treated in that way, not to mention be embarrassed in public as I was. Because of the way he handled this situation, I am joining the ranks of not paying refuse and fire fees. I still work two days a week and am considering retiring again so I don’t have to pay the user fee.
I used to have a lot of respect for the police; however, this has changed. I have zero respect now because of the officer’s actions. I still have a hatred towards the Viet Cong after 50-plus years. As of now, I consider this officer lower than the Viet Cong.
When I left, my neighbor gave me the middle finger routine, laughed at me, and said call the police now. Another black eye for Huntington.
