Have you ever thought about being a tourist in your own town?
We often get caught up in the grind of day-to-day life and forget to enjoy the place we call home. We say things like, "I need to get away." "I need a long trip." "I need to be at the beach."
But what if we could get away - without going away?
We started this experiment with last year's Discover series, and it was so successful, we decided to do it again. We are spending one day — from dawn until dusk — in six distinct communities within our main circulation area. We are checking out businesses, parks, restaurants, coffee shops and other things that catch our fancy. We are talking to people whom you normally wouldn't see on the front page of the newspaper, but who are responsible for making our communities work, nonetheless.
So, what's the point? There is no point, really. We are doing this because it's fun, and because we can! And because our job is storytelling, we find this to be a unique way to continue to tell the story of the Tri-State Area.
And maybe, just maybe, we will inspire you, dear reader, to spend some time exploring locally.
