At the corner of Main Street and Depot Street, there's something tasty coming.

What looks like a nondescript field surrounded by a chainlink fence actually houses some of the fastest-growing items in Barboursville.

The Barboursville Community Gardens is in full swing, and residents have taken advantage of the planter boxes to grow the likes of corn, tomatoes and peppers.

While it's still early in the season and a mid-day sun beats down on the plants, a lone banana pepper stands testament to the growing ability of the soil in the boxes.

The community garden has a Facebook page on which folks can post pictures of their crops, their dirty hands after an afternoon tending to the plants, or even a recent picture of a small family of rabbits that have taken up residence in one of the planter boxes.
