In 1975, Vicky Clark started her business out of her living room.

Stocking her own 50-pound boxes of chocolate for candy making, locals began to inquire about her supplier, hoping to grab their own bulk supplies. The creative entrepreneur had a better idea.

"I would say, 'Let me sell you some of mine,'" Clark said "I taught classes for women's groups and anywhere I could get a group of people together."

With the boom of Clark's new business, she needed to expand.

"My business was growing to the point that my dad bought me a mobile home that was stripped down and rebuilt into a store front," Clark said. "This store was located in my front yard in Malcolm Springs."

Eventually, she moved to Main Street in the Milton Plaza, and she's been a community staple since. As a result of the extra space, Clark started carrying party supplies to fill the space, lining shelves with matching plates, cups, cutlery, dcor and baking necessities.

"We have over 200 different patterns for parties for all ages - children, adult, over the hill, luau, western, floral, baby shower, first birthday and designs for all the holidays," Clark said.

Over time, the business has become a family affair. Donna Stollings, Clark's daughter, co-owns the business, and Clark's granddaughter, Aireal Hatfield, handles the personalized banner-making side of the business.

"[Aireal] takes time to design your banner while you watch so you will know exactly what you are getting," Clark said.

Vicky's can also imprint napkins for special occasions in-store, allowing customers to choose from 29 different colors for a personalized matching set of plates, cups, tableware, glasses and table covers for their events. Those with a sweet tooth can mix and match 21 solid colors of M&Ms to complement their supplies.

In the fall, winter and spring, Vicky's stocks chocolate in bulk for candy making.

"If you need one pound or 500 pounds," Clark said. "We also stock over 1,500 chocolate and hard candy molds year round. [It's] the largest selection of hard candy flavors you can find."

As for cake decorating, Vicky's stocks myriad molds, pans, food coloring, topical decor and tips.

"Business has been a blessing, and we are so grateful for every customer," Clark said. "We have customers that come from all over West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia and even down into the southern states."

Vicky's is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
