CHARLESTON — Spring Valley’s C.J. Meredith scored 36 points and snared 11 rebounds to lead the Timberwolves to an 84-77 win over George Washington on Thursday.

Spring Valley (5-6) now has back-to-back wins for the second time this season and has won four of its last five games.

The Timberwolves shot 55 percent from the floor and knocked down 11 of 13 free throws to get the win.

George Washington (7-5) lost its second straight game despite 26 points from Mason Pinkett.

Spring Valley can improve to .500 with a win on Saturday at Huntington High with a 7:30 tip in the Jimmie Morgan Sr. Memorial Classic.

Samantha Wells scored 14 points and snared seven rebounds. Karmen Bruton scored 10 points and issued five assists. Karli McCloud grabbed a teaam-high nine rebounds.

Mary Griffith scored 18 points and Cassie martin 12 for Lebanon Christian Academy.

Grace Christian takes on Bob Jones Academy at 2 p.m. Friday for the championship.

GRACE CHRISTIAN WINS TWO: The Soldiers won two games in the Bob Jones Invitational at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina.

On Wednesday, Grace Christian defeated New Manna of Marion, North Carolina, 83-74 in overtime in the quarterfinals. Rickey Tanner scored 31 points and made eight 3-pointers for the Soldiers. Eli Foster scored 20 points and Braedon Workman chipped in 17.

Simon Gardin led the Wind (13-1) with 24 points. Kopper Shirley scored 17, Houston Sailors 11 and Trason Garner 10.

In the semifinals, Grace Christian beat Lebanon (Pennsylvania) Christian Academy 58-48. Foster led the Soldiers with 20 points. Tanner and Workman each scored 10.

Elijah Davis scored 22 for the Panthers (19-2).

Grace Christian takes on host Bob Jones Academy at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the championship game.

CHESAPEAKE 47, TOLSIA 41: The Panthers’ Maddie Ward scored a game-high 25 points and collected her 500th career rebound in a win over the visiting Rebels.

The game was stopped so Ward, who had seven rebounds in the game, could be recognized for her achievement.

Chesapeake (9-8) also had 12 points from Blake Anderson who grabbed eight rebounds and had five steals.

Katie Marcum scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Julie Boone scored 11 points for Tolsia (6-7).

Caroline Asbury added 17 points for Spring Valley with Brea Saunders contributing 13. Talayah Boxley scored 18 points to lead Capital (4-9). atalyia Sayles pitched in with 14 points and Kya Hampton scored 10.

SOUTH POINT 86, HUNTINGTON ST. JOE 53: Austin Webb scored 31 points and Chance Gunther 22 as the Pointers (8-7) clobbered the Irish in Huntington.

Gunner Hickman scored 14 points and Jaylen Motley 10 for Huntington St. Joe (7-5), which was outscored 29-11 in the second quarter and 27-11 in the third.
