CEREDO - The Town of Ceredo Farmer's Market will open for the season on Saturday, June 15. This will be the third year for the market, located at the Town Shelter on the Mitch Stadium parking lot. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.. Following the season opening this Saturday, the market will be open every Friday and Saturday through Saturday, Oct. 19. Ample parking is available near the vegetable stands and a drive-through lane is available for persons not able to walk around the area.
"The market has been very successful in its first two years," said Ceredo Mayor Paul Billups, "The anchor farmers have done a tremendous job in bringing fresh produce to our residents, so much so that the market now draws customers from several communities in West Virginia along with regular customers from Kentucky and Ohio. We expect to add a number of specialty vendors as the season progresses, providing our residents with heathy, locally-grown food in a convenient setting."
The anchor farms this season will be Greenbrier Farms of Fort Gay and Rocky Knob Farm of Prichard, with several smaller specialty farmers offering items as various crops are ready for harvest. Also returning will be the Four Mile Bakery Amish doughnuts and pastries, brought straight to the market fresh each morning.
