The Wayne County News

Sunday night was no normal night of fishing at Beech Fork Lake for Brayden McCormill.

The nine-year-old managed to reel in a 49-inch, 60-pound flathead catfish all by himself. His mother said the youngster struggled with the fish for 30 minutes before he was able to get him to the bank and refused help along the way. The catfish was just short of the state record for flatheads, which is 52 inches and 70 pounds.
